Whatever they were, they were becoming far too big to remain under his skin. The skin was becoming too distended to be able to withstand much of this for longer. The cuts were widening, the glint of white just beginning to peek out of damaged skin. Xaldin did his best to maneuver his body properly onto the table. The weight on his back was so substantial it had thrown off his sense of balance. He winced as he adjusted his arms, trying to allow for more room. The growths were cramped, already attempting to stretch. He set his jaw, worked brand new nerves in an effort to pull them tighter against his flesh.
"Not when that heart is already consumed by fear." Xaldin winced at the cold of the operating table on his skin, but he shifted to allow Lexaeus to remove the pants. All in all rather unpleasant for an evening that was supposed to be restful. "And guilt. And any number of other negative emotions. You saw how he fought me."
At his companion's accusation he turned, scowling. "Do you really think I would do this to a shared body, Lexaeus? I feel this pain just as keenly as he does. There's nothing happening that he hasn't...done to himself..." He stopped suddenly. This had gone on enough for him to recognize the pulses, the surges of growth. There was a trembling in the nerves, a twitching in newly formed muscle. It was building again. Slow. But not for long. His eyes flicked to Lexaeus. "You need to hurry. It's going to rip us open."
